Ireland's Arthur Lanigan-O'keefe  today won a bronze medal in the Pentathlon World Cup final in Astana.

The Irishman makes history by becoming the first athlete from this country to win a medal in the discipline.

Langan O'Keefe won the medal after getting into contention this morning. The Thomastown man hit the podium after coming from sixth place on Thursday, to blitz into the bronze medal position.

The Kilkenny man and 2012 Olympian scored big in today's swimming, horse riding and run-shoot in Kazakhstan capital.

The modern day Pentathlon consists of five events: Fencing,  Swimming, Horse-riding and Combined running/shooting.
