Jonny Cooper: "I've always played my best football on the edge"

Dublin's Jonny Copper says he plays best when pushing boundaries on the field.

"I've always played my best football on the edge,' said the Dubliner

The Na Fianna player spoke with OTB's Maire Treasa Ni Chellaigh yesterday ahead of his team's All-Ireland final meeting with Tyrone in September.

Cooper says the style of play he implements on the pitch, is a risk, but is a risk he's willing to take in order for his side to reach optimum performance levels.

The Dubliner says controlled intensity is the key. He's say he paid for crossing the line in the past, on and off the pitch.

"I definitely like to play on the edge. I've played over the edge, and I've got caught, deservedly caught,  black cards and that in All-Ireland finals - the biggest days. I have paid the price for it in many ways, and different times, too.

Dublin's Cooper believes he learnt from previous incidents when he pushed the boundaries too far, and crossed the line.

"I guess, I have always played my best at the edge. Ultimately, It's about controlling it, and not going over it - and trying to get the best performance out of myself, for the team. And not meet the detrimental side of that.

The Dublin player says he's looking forward to the toe-to-toe intensity that Tyrone bring to the table on September 2nd. Dublin will be aiming for their forth title on the bounce. Cooper is looking forward to the challenge.

"I enjoy it, and you get a really energetic and toe-to-toe thing against Tyrone - which again I'm looking forward to. It's just about controlling how far you need to go with it."
