Kevin Walsh on Connacht final: "It's going to be a really, really tough one."

Galway manager Kevin Walsh believes his team's demolition of Sligo in today's Connacht football Championship can be a big learning curve as they now prepare to face Roscommon in the provincial decider.

Galway demolished Sligo by 21 points, racking up a scoreline of 4-24 to 1-12. Walsh says he was happy with the conversion rate from his team, especially after the missed efforts when his side defeated Mayo three weeks ago.

Walsh spoke with OTB's Neil Tracy after today's game in Pearse Stadium.

"The conversion rates were a lot higher than the Mayo match, I think. probably only a few wides before half time. It was great for our team having such a lead at half time. We knew Sligo had finished off division three very strongly.

The two-time All-Ireland winner says he is looking for improvements, even after such a dominant victory. He feels his players must put the victory behind the as they prepare for Roscommon.

"We are heading for Roscommon now, and they are in division one up until last season, and they came back up again and they're Connacht champions, they are the league champions. So, it's going to be a really tough one. We have to put this behind us and learn a few things from it, and get as ready as we can.

The Tribesmen meet Roscommon in the Connacht final for a third year in a row. Walsh says he is relishing the opportunity for his side to showcase their consistency against top-level opposition.

"It's part of how the draw process was. We've had to play Mayo three years in a row before we even got as far as a Connacht final, which is really, really tough. So, we've been tested quite a bit over the last number years of years trying to prove the consistency,' said Walsh.

The former All-Star insists the route to this stage has been a very tough one but says he's looking forward to the Challenge from their Connacht neighbours.

"Today is the first time since I've come to Galway that this is an opposition outside of division 1. It's someone you wouldn't expect in a county with five or six teams. We've been through a hard route but it's a great chance to see how good you are against the best teams."
