2015 and 2016 GAA/GPA All-Stars to play in Abu Dhabi this weekend

THE GAA/GPA All-Stars left Dublin on Wednesday to fly to Abu Dhabi and Dubai when they go on a football tour.

A 29-man party, from ten separate counties representing the 2015 and 2016 All-Star winners will take part in the tour. Tipperary boss Liam Kearns and Tyrone's Mickey Harte will manage the teams.

On Friday the highlight of the tour will be at the Zayad Sports City venue in Abu Dhabi when the 2015 and 2016 teams play their exhibition football match, before flying home to Ireland next Monday.

Five players featured in the 2015 and 2016 team. Out of those, 2016 Footballer of the Year Lee Keegan is the only one not to make the trip. 2015 Player of the Year Jack McCaffrey is also not involved.

Because of the fact the five players were on both teams, and certain players cannot travel, the GAA have invited other players to take part in the event. Player like Michael Murphy (Donegal) and Peter Acheson (Tipperary) have also travelled.

In total, the 2015 team has nine All-Stars from that year, while this year's team will see ten of the team represented.
