A Leeds United fan claims he was paid to praise owner Massimo Cellino online

A Leeds United fan claims he was paid around €640 per month to praise the club's owner Massimo Cellino online.

Tuesday's Daily Mail states that Leeds fan Scott Gutteridge alleges he received the money for posting positive messages on a Facebook page supporting the Italian owner.

Cellino took full charge of the club in April 2014. In that time, the club has sacked five managers from the club and has been disqualified twice from the Football League for owning the club.

Gutteridge told the Daily Mail; "The club felt that a positive influence from a small number of fans could go a long way and sponsoring this group would be worth their time."

The "In Massimo We Trust" group is continuing to post positive stories on Facebook, but Gutteridge has said he was dropped from the group. "This was nothing more than propaganda with the wrongdoings being covered up by the club using the Facebook group to counter arguments. Leeds is a club rotten to the core."

Leeds currently lie in 17th place in The Championship. The play Fulham at home on Tuesday night.
