Abandoned puppy adopted by amateur baseball team in US state

Major League Baseball is about to undergo quite the shake-up.

OK, not really, but one amateur baseball team in Georgia has taken on board the newest member of their staff, Daisy.

Daisy was discovered by a ticket salesperson at the Grayson Stadium in Savannah, Georgia. The seven week old puppy had no tags, microchip and was found crying (yes, crying!) in the car park.

Team President Jared Orton and his wife have since adopted the pup. They said Daisyl will work alongside the rest of the Savannah Bananas as its first "bat dog."

The puppy will undergo training to fetch baseballs and baseball bats.

"She has to be part of the family now," Orton told Buzzfeed. "We thought making her part of the Savannah Bananas family would be pretty fun."

"We still don’t really know how big she’s going to get. In the next year or so we’ll have an idea of her size and what she can do.

For now Daisy remains eager greet everyone who comes into the stadium’s front office.

"She also certainly wants to put on a show," said Orton. "So I think it’s perfect."

It's all in preparation for their opening season game on June 2.
