Actor Tim Roth admits he "hated" portraying Blatter in critically-savaged FIFA movie

Actor Tim Roth has admitted he "hated" making the film in which he portrayed FIFA's suspended president Sepp Blatter.

United Passions, which was commissioned by football's world governing body, famously failed at the box office (it took less than $1,000 in the US) and in a Reddit ‘Ask Me Anything’ session, Roth who played Blatter, was hardly complimentary about the project which was panned by critics.

"The film is awful (can’t say that because I haven’t seen it), I hated doing it, it was the wrong film for the right reasons," said the Englishman.

“I had two kids in college so I had to make a decision and it was probably poorly judged, but once you make that decision you have to follow through. It's a hard road, being in something you don't want to do, but I'm glad I did it for my family.

"As for Fifa, I thought the movie would be much more about the corruption of this guy at first."

Blatter, who has been head of FIFA since 1998, was banned for eight years by FIFA's ethics committee today.
