Advantage New Zealand with test referees

New Zealand will enter all three tests in the Lions series with referees that have never been in charge of an All Black loss.

Of course, not many whistleblowers have actually seen one given they have only been beaten once in the last two years.

However it highlights the difficulty the tourists face this summer when they head south to take on the back-to-back world champions in their own backyard.

Jaco Peyper of South Africa will handle the first test at the All Blacks' fortress of Eden Park where their last loss there came against France in July 1994!

Peyper was heavily criticised for his handling of the Ireland-New Zeland match in Dublin last November which saw a number of questionably high tackles throughout the game and coincidentally saw a clamping-down of high tackle rules by World Rugby shortly after.

Jerome Garces and Roman Poite will be in charge of the second and third tests respectively.

The trio have been in charge of 25 New Zealand tests between them with the All Blacks winning 24 and drawing one.

Poite referred the third test of the 2013 series which saw the Lions clinch their first series victory since beating South Africa in 1997.
