Aidan McGeady has has ended his torrid time at Everton, temporarily, by joining Sheffield Wednesday on loan until the end of the season.
The Everton winger has fallen down the pecking order at Goodison Park and he has decided to make a move in order to revitalise his chances of making a real impact for Ireland in France at Euro 2016.
It had been suggested that McGeady was on the brink of making a move to Sevilla in order to team up with former Spartak Moscow head coach Unai Emery.
Rumours had suggested that McGeady was unwilling to drop to the Championship but with Sheffield Wednesday currently sitting in seventh place and fighting for promotion to the Premier League, the Irish international has decided not to move abroad and opted for the English club.
Blackburn Rovers and Leeds United had both enquired about the winger but lost out to the Owls. McGeady has the ability, when confidence is up, to win games on his own for his new club and they will be glad of a player of the former Celtic winger's ability.
One former Irish international is particularly happy with the move!
