Aisling Dunphy admits Kilkenny had to dig deep for camogie league title

Aisling Dunphy admits Kilkenny were forced to dig deep in the closing stages of Sunday's Camogie League Division 1 final at the Gaelic Grounds.

The Cats ran out three-point winners in Limerick and Dunphy says they had to summon everything they had to win the game.

"We're delighted," she told Newstalk Sport's Oisin Langan. "We were out on our feet out there for the last 10 minutes. Cork put it up to us for the whole game, but we pushed on in the end.

"The final score probably didn't reflect the whole game. There was nothing in it. Cork worked so hard and they made it difficult to pull away.

"There's probably not one player in our team who we can say didn't give 100%."

The focus now shifts to the Championships this summer, but Dunphy didn't overlook the significance of the victory and what it has given the team in terms of experience.

"We've loads of young players and for some of the girls it might have been their first time playing in a league game.

"It's early days, but we're going to enjoy the week and then we're back in looking at the Championship."

She added: "No one that came on let us down. We had fresh legs coming off the bench and everyone who came on was an asset. We didn't lose any momentum."
