Alan Quinlan picks his Lions squad

With just hours until we find out who will make the cut for this year's Lions Tour of New Zealand, the world waits to see what way Warren Gatland's team has shaped up.

Newstalk Breakfast's Alan Quinlan has included 12 Irish players in his squad for the tour, including the likes of Jack McGrath, Tadhg Furlong and Robbie Henshaw, but he finds no place for the likes of two-time Lions, Jamie Heaslip or Rob Kearney.

England's Six Nations' winning side have the largest representation, but Quinlan cannot see England's captain Dylan Hartley making the team. The likes of Mario Itoje, Owen Farrell and Billy Vunipola all make the cut.

The former Munster player has included a number of Welsh players in the squad also, with Leigh Halfpenny, Dan Biggar, Sam Warburton and Alun Wyn Jones. Quinlan expects Warburton to lead the side for the second tour in a row.

Scotland's impressive display in this year's Six Nations is not enough though to see a substantial representation in Quinlan's squad. Only full-back Stuart Hogg makes the cut.
