Albania's win highlights the flaws in the Euro 2016 draw

As France and Switzerland played out a 0-0 draw in Lille on Sunday night, Albania made history with a 1-0 win over Romania in Lyon.

A 43rd minute goal from Armando Sadiku was Albania's first of the tournament and helped the team to their first ever win in a major tournament. It also ensured the team finished in third place, ahead of Romania in Group A.

The win meant that Albania finished on three points and may qualify for the Second Round. May.

UEFA's expansion of the tournament to 24 teams, means that most third placed teams will not know about their future in the tournament, until the group stage is over.

That means that Albania's fate will not be known until Wednesday, a full three days after they play.

Currently, they are the third best, third-placed team and have a reasonable chance of making the knockout stages. While Romania's players get to fly home, Albania will return to their base on the Brittany coast waiting to find out their fate.

If they do advance, Albania will play on Saturday in Paris, or Sunday in Lille. It's not the most ideal of preparations for them. Other teams will find themselves in a similar situation in the coming days.
