Andy Farrell on Wales: "It's do or die for them"

Andy Farrell has provided a positive injury update ahead of Ireland's 6 Nations clash with Wales on Saturday.

Tadhg Furlong limped out of Ireland's win over Italy but Farrell admits he is doing all expected of him ahead of the weekend.

"Well, he's hitting his markers and is training well," Farrell said at Tuesday's media event. "He has not been in full training - he's been a bit-part of stuff and we'll make a decision on that Wednesday night/Thursday."

He also went on to give a positive update on two second rows after both James Ryan and Iain Henderson picked up nocks in recent weeks.

"James Ryan has been training with us fully for the last few days so he's fully fit. Iain Henderson, a bit like Tadhg, he's hitting his markers and is pushing in the right direction and we'll assess how he pulls up after two hard days of training."

Farrell went on to congratulate Warren Gatland - who will be in charge of Wales for the 100th time this weekend. The pair worked together on the last two Lions Tours.

"He'll be relishing it like any other week. There's been a lot said about him coaching the Irish set-up etc and his 100th game this week for Wales so congratulations to him on that but he'll be after a result. He's after the same as us - a result is all that matters.

"I suppose he'll be preparing his side like a cup final this week. It's do or die for them and we know that so if it's a cup final for them - it's a cup final for us as well," he added.
