Annalise Murphy gives her take on the decision to postpone her Laser Radial Medal Race

Ireland's Annalise Murphy believes she and her rivals for a medal in the Women's Laser Radial would have been "fine" to compete tonight in Rio but has backed the organisers' decision to push the event back to tomorrow.

After a lengthy delay held back the staging of the Medal Race due to a lack of wind earlier in the day, the wind later picked up to a point where postponement was decided.

Murphy enters the final medal race in third overall and in with a strong chance of a bronze medal at least.

"We'd all have been fine out there but it is very windy so it's probably the right decision by the race committee. You can see it's wild out there. We just have to go out tomorrow and get some racing instead," she told Newstalk's Richie McCormack.

With the change impacting on Murphy and her competitors, she is taking things in her stride.

"It'll be completely fine. It's something that I'm completely used to. We have to do this all the time in sailing."

If racing does not go ahead tomorrow for any reason, then Murphy wins bronze.
