Another Irish swimmer has qualified for the Olympic Games

Nicholas Quinn becomes the third Irish swimmer to qualify for the Olympic Games in Rio this summer after reaching the qualifying time in Eindhoven on Sunday night.

Quinn swam 2:11.24 in the 200m breaststroke, almost half a second under the qualification time of 2:11.66.

The Castlebar native who trains and studies at the University of Edinburgh, will join Fiona Doyle, Shane Ryan and diver Oliver Dingley in Rio after claiming gold at the 2016 Eindhoven Swim Cup.

Quinn progressed to the final in 2:13.27, over his personal best of 2:13.04.  A strong performance in the final saw him beat that time to book his ticket to Rio.
