Antonio Conte moves one step closer to Chelsea job

Antonio Conte has moved one step closer to becoming the next Chelsea manager after it was announced that the 46-year-old is to leave his role as Italy manager after Euro 2016.

Conte became Italy's manager after the 2014 World Cup. His two-year contract expires this summer. The Azzurri were unbeaten under Conte in qualifying for Euro 2016. They won seven of their ten matches in qualification for the tournament beating Norway and Bulgaria on the way to topping Group H.

The Italian manager has had numerous successes as a club manager. Conte has led Juventus to three successive Seria A titles between 2012 and 2014. As a player, he won five Serie A titles and a Champions League with Juventus.

Conte has been one of the frontrunners to replace Guus Hiddink as Chelsea manager. The 46-year-old's managerial career has been based in Italy since 2006.

Recent reports claim that Conte's representatives have been in contact with Chelsea about becoming the London club's new manager. Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone and former Chile manager Jorge Sampaoli were among the managers previously linked with the Stamford Bridge role.
