Argentina-Brazil World Cup qualifier postponed after downpours in Buenos Aires

The crucial World Cup qualifer between Argentina and Brazil has been postponed by 24 hours after torrential downpours in Buenos Aires.

The South American giants were due to play last night at the home of River Plate, but as commentator John Bradley showed, the pitch was not in a condition to be played on.

International matches are rarely postponed, but contingency arrangements are always in place. The 2014 World Cup qualifier between Poland and England was postponed by 24 hours due to heavy rain in Warsaw in 2012.

Neither Argentina or Brazil will be happy with the postponed fixture as both teams are in action again on Tuesday.
