Arsenal in danger of losing Ozil and Sanchez according to Martin Keown

Former Arsenal defender Martin Keown believes that Arsenal are in danger of losing star players Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez this summer if they beef up their squad in the summer transfer window.

Following yet another season without silverware, Keown expects that Arsene Wenger will invest heavily in his squad to keep a hold of the two talents and bolster their chances of claiming glory next year.

"I think he’ll be active in the transfer market. It’ll be a lot easier to sign Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil to new deals if the team is being supplemented with top talent. Arsenal have stopped bleeding players, but it could happen again if Arsene doesn’t recruit well now," he said to the Daily Mail.

The North Londoners trail league leaders Leicester by 10 points with just four games to go, while they were unceremoniously dumped out of the League Cup and FA Cup by so called smaller teams with their CHampions League campaign ending in a 5-1 aggregate humbling to Barcelona.

With the French coach entering the final year of his contract, Keown feels that another unsuccessful year could spell the end for him, so he may have little choice but to dip into the transfer market.

"One thing I am sure of is that Arsene will want to leave while he’s on top, and unless they win the title next season, he can only do that if he earns a new contract.

"Because of this I think he’ll be busy in the transfer market this summer, and one thing he needs to decide is whether his squad has the right experience to win the title.

"Coquelin and Elneny have done well, but does he want a more experienced player in the heart of his midfield? Laurent Koscielny and Gabriel are both good defenders, but is the partnership good enough for a title-winning defence?" he added.
