Arsenal on course to beat last year's Premier League points total

It's been a testing season for Arsenal.

Never-ending questions over Arsene Wenger's future have been matched by never-ending calls for the manager to step away at the end of the season. A 10-2 aggregate loss to Bayern Munich in the Champions League was undoubtedly the team's nadir this season.

Despite a tough season for all of those at the Emirates, Arsenal could still finish in the Champions League spots for next season. Wednesday's 2-0 win away to Southampton was the team's fourth league win in the past five games.

Even though Arsenal's fans are unhappy with their manager, the team are on course to beat last year's points total.

Last season Arsenal finished on 71 points to finish in second place. While second place is already out of reach this season, Wenger's side look on course to beat last year's total.

With three games left in the season against Stoke City, Sunderland and Everton, Arsenal only need two wins to hit 72 points, but may need to get at least seven points if they are to finish in the top-four.

A third FA Cup Final in four years awaits Arsenal later this month, as they face double-chasing Chelsea. Arsenal's season may not have been what their fans had hoped but it certainly could have been much worse.
