Arsene Wenger hits back at Tony Adams' criticism

Arsene Wenger has responded to Tony Adams' criticism of him in his new book, labelling the comments as 'sad.'

The former Arsenal player - and now caretaker manager of Granada - spoke out against his former club boss in his new book which has been serialised by the Sun.

In it, he describes Wenger as 'essentially, not a coach.'

The Arsenal boss has come under mounting pressure at the club this season, with his side facing into a battle to take a top-four spot on the Premier League table on the last day of the season.

Speaking ahead of their final league game against Everton, Wenger said Adams' comments are not important to him:

"I do not give too much importance to what Tony Adams says, honestly. He can show what he can do now. Who gives importance to that? I know him for a long time. It's sad.

"I am respectful to everybody. I don't have anything to say about that. For me, it's a subject of no interest. And so I would like to dedicate my time to something that is more interesting."

Adams, who spent a month training the Arsenal U18's last season, won 10 major titles during his time as a player with the London club.
