Aston Villa have been relegated from the Premier League for the first time in the clubs history this afternoon after a 1-0 defeat at Manchester United.

Marcus Rashford scored the only goal of the game as Villa were officially relegated this afternoon. The news comes as a surprise to few as the club have only accrued just 16 points from 34 games.

They needed an unlikely victory at Manchester United to keep their slim hopes of surviving the drop alive but couldn't produce the performance.

Should Eric Black remain in charge next season, he'll face a daunting task of navigating Villa through an ultra-competitive Championship and bring them back to the Premier League at the first time of asking.
