Australian sporting icon apolgises for racist comments

Even after being knocked out of the Men's draw at Wimbledon yesterday, Nick Kyrgios remains in the news.

Australian legend Dawn Fraser, who won Olympic golds at three consecutive games was on Australian television to speak about the behaviour at Wimbeldon of Kyrgios and his compatriot Bernard Tomic.

Tomic was banned from Australia's forthcoming Davis Cup team for comments made after the tournament about the Australian tennis governing body. Kyrgios threatened to boycott the team in support of his compatriot.

The 77 year old called both men's actions as "disgraceful for Australian sportsmen and women". She also stated that they "should go back to where their parents came from if they want. We dont need them in this country to act like that".

Kyrgios is Australian born and the son of a Greek father and Malaysian mother. Tomic was born in Germany to a Croatian father and Bosnian mother, but moved to Australia when he was three.

Fraser has since apologised for her comments.
