For the past eight years, Barack Obama has invited numerous sports teams to The White House to celebrate their title wins.
One team he may have never expected to invite to Washington DC, was the Chicago Cubs. One of baseball's oldest teams, the Cubs won the World Series for the first time since 1908 last November.
Despite the lateness of their win in his Presidential term, Obama almost immediately invited the Cub, before his term came to an end.

Obama, a fan of the Chicago White Sox, the Cubs' cross-city rivals, joked that he was; "among Sox fans I'm the Cubs' number one fan".
"I will say to the Cubs, it took you long enough. I only have four days left. You're just making it under the wire", Obama also added to the 2016 World Series champions.
The 44th American President was born in Hawaii, but grew up in Chicago, where he would meet his wife Michelle. Growing up in a Cubs-supporting family, the First Lady attended Monday's ceremony to meet the team. Out of the 50 or so events that honoured sports teams in Obama's reign, the Cubs celebrations was the only one attended by his wife.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, Obama was given a lifetime pass to Wrigley Field, and a Chicago Cubs jersey in a subtle bid to try and get him to change allegiances.
