Behan falls just short in medal bid

Gymnast Kieran Behan agonisingly finished fourth in the Men's Floor Final this morning in Baku. The 2012 Olympian scored 14.866 to finished just .144 behind the bronze medal which was taken by Russian David Belyavskiy.

In cycling, Caroline Ryan broke from the peloton early in the Women's Road Race before being hauled in before the final stages. She did not finish the race, which was won by Alena Amialiusik.

In archery, Darren Wallace lost his Round of 32 clash to David Pasqualucci. The Laois native lost to the Italian 6-2.

There are five Irish boxers in action today. Michaela Walsh was defeated by Elena Saveleva in the Women's Bantamweight division. She lost by unanimous division in four rounds.

Myles Casey's Baku journey also ended today. He lost to the home favourite Elvin Mamishzada in the flyweight division.

Sean McComb was the first Irish boxer to reach the quarter finals. He defeated Donato Cosenza in the Lightweight divison.

Two more Irish boxers may reach the quarter finals later today. Olympian Adam Nolan is in action in the Welterweight division. In the Super Heavyweight division, Dean Gardiner makes his tournament bow. Both men fight Italian opponents.
