Bernie Ecclestone questions whether a woman would "physically be able" to drive an F1 car quickly

Formula 1 chief executive Bernie Ecclestone has questioned whether women would "physically be able to drive an F1 car quickly".

The businessman made the remarks at an advertising event in which he also backed Donald Trump for the US presidency, Vladimir Putin should be in charge of Europe and immigration has brought no benefits whatsoever to the UK.

But on the issue of female Formula 1 drivers, he questioned their potential to succeed.

"I don’t know whether a woman would physically be able to drive an F1 car quickly, and they wouldn’t be taken seriously," he said.

Ecclestone conceded that, "Women are more competent and they don’t have massive egos".

On Russian president Vladimir Putin, he said: "Europe has become less important full stop. Vladimir Putin should be running Europe. He gets the job done."
