Booker T confirms bid to become Mayor of Houston

He may be the five-time, five-time, five-time, five-time, five-time WCW Champion, but Booker T is hoping to be elected Mayor of Houston, Texas at the first time of asking.

The 51-year-old, whose real name is Booker T. Huffman has announced he is to run to become Mayor of his home city in 2019.

Huffman released a statement earlier this week, confirming his candidacy, but he did not reveal if he would run as a Republican, Democrat or Independent.

Booker T is not the first person from the wrestling industry to run for office. Jesse Ventura is the most famous wrestling politician. 'The Body' was Governor of Minnesota at the start of the millennium.

More recently, Rhyno (Terrance Gerin) ran as a Republican earlier this year to take a seat on the Michigan House of Representatives, but he lost by 9,000 votes.

Linda McMahon, the wife of WWE owner Vince McMahon has run one two occasions to become a member of the US Senate, losing each time. She know looks set to become the head of Donald Trump's small business administration.

Jerry 'The King' Lawler ran on two occasions to become the Mayor of Memphis, Tennessee but was unsuccessful on both occasions.

Whether Huffman is successful or not, he is joining a long line of wrestling politicians.
