Boost for Connacht as Jack Carty among several to return to first team training

There were reasons to smile for Connacht fans this afternoon with news that Jack Carty will be integrated into first team training this week ahead of their Champions Cup clash with Toulouse on Sunday.

The number 10 continues to recover from a knee injury sustained during Connacht's PRO12 game away to Ospreys this month, but aims to return to the first team.

Connacht comfortably beat Zebre last Saturday afternoon to set up a crunch clash with the Top 14 side this weekend, with the winner claiming top spot in Pool 2.

Denis Buckley will be monitored this week by the medical staff after suffering a foot injury during their victory over the Italian side on Saturday.

There was further good news as Ultan Dillane will integrate into partial training having come through rehabilitation for an ankle injury well.

Quinn Roux has recovered fully from a groin injury and returns to full training, as do Jake Heenan (knee) and Nepia Fox Matamua (chest).

Both Shane O’Leary and Peter Robb have successfully completed the return-to-play protocols after suffering concussions and will integrate into full training.

Ronan Loughney and Eoghan Masterson both returns to full training after recovering from a knee injuries.

Josh Rowland sustained a knee injury playing for the Connacht Eagles at the weekend and will be out of action for up to two months.

Elsewhere today, Connacht confirmed that John Muldoon has signed a one-year contract extension with the Irish province.
