Boris Becker envisages positive Agassi effect on Djokovic

Tennis legend Boris Becker expects fellow all time great Andre Agassi to bring the best out of Novak Djokovic who has struggled with his form for the past year.

The American, who is an eight time grand slam winner, has begun coaching the Serb ahead of the French Open.

Becker's own three year coaching relationship with Djokovic came to an end in December, before the former World No 1 then parted with the remainder of his coaching team in a shake-up.

The German told Sky Sports News that Agassi should get on well with his former pupil.

"I wasn't surprised. I'm still pretty close to him and to the rest of the team," said Becker.

"So I've heard the name Andre Agassi swirling around a number of times, so I think they have a lot to talk about and I think their games are similar. But ultimately the truth lies on the court so I hope they do well."

On Wednesday, Sports Illustrated's Jon Wertheim assessed the situation on Off The Ball.

"It's a bold move for Djokovic because Agassi hasn't coached anyone before. It's intriguing. We have this tremendous player in Djokovic but he's been in quite a slump," he said.

"We're still waiting to see if Agassi is a coach or a guru or even some sort of periodic adviser."
