Borussia Dortmund sign Swedish striker dubbed the "new Zlatan Ibrahimovic"

Borussia Dortmund have completed the signing of 17-year-old Alexander Isak, the player widely dubbed as the "new Zlatan Ibrahimovic".

Isak joins the Bundesliga side from Swedish club AIK Solna for a fee reported to be in the region of €10m. Despite being linked with a move to Real Madrid, Isak opted to join the German giants and was unveiled by the club on Monday morning.

Scoring 10 goals in 24 appearances last season helped to earn him a call-up to the Swedish national side and has accrued two international caps thus far. In doing so, he broke the 104-year-old record set by Erik Dahlström as the youngest player to score for the Swedish national team aged 17 years and 113 days.

"Alexander Isak is a hugely-talented striker, who many top clubs in Europe wanted to sign," said Borussia Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc

"We are delighted that he has chosen Borussia Dortmund. Both BVB and the player himself are convinced that this transfer has great potential."

He became his country's youngest ever goalscorer after scoring against Slovakia during a 6-0 win earlier this month.

The completion of the transfer still requires special approval by world football’s governing body FIFA, due to the fact that the payer is still a minor.

The eight-time German champions also announced today that Christian Pulisic has extended his contract until June 2020.
