Brendan Rodgers lauds Celtic record

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has praised his players after they surpassed the unbeaten domestic record set by the legendary Lisbon Lions 50 years ago.

The Bhoys beat Hearts 4-0 on Sunday as the champions cruised to another win which gives them a 22 point lead over second place Rangers and a 24 point lead over Aberdeen although the Dons have a game in hand.

Celtic welcome Aberdeen to Celtic Park on Wednesday as they look to continue their incredible run.

Speaking after the match to the club's official website, Rodgers said: “It’s a huge honour, the history of this club, 129 years, and how difficult that is, it’s an incredible run the players are on, but every accolade they get they deserve because of the focus and spirit fostered within the team and the quality of the football they produce.

“We’re very proud but I said to them again, setting the challenge going forward, we just have to keep winning and that comes from our work on a day-to-day basis, our concentration and just making sure we take care of all the background noise that goes on around it, and just focus on our football and our job in the team. The players were magnificent at that,” he added.
