Brilliant Kevin de Bruyne goal propels Man City into the Champions League semis

Kevin de Bruyne's curling strike from outside the box proved enough to send Manchester City into the Champions League semi-finals for the first time in their history.

The Premier League club came into tonight's second leg at the Etihad on the back of a 2-2 draw away from home which meant a goalless draw tonight would be enough for Manuel Pellegrini's side.

They held up the defensive end of the bargain by not conceding against their Parisian opponents.

But Sergio Aguero should have had Man City 1-0 up before the break when PSG keeper Kevin Trapp brought him down in the box midway through the first half.

But the Argentine striker confounded expectations by sending the resulting penalty wide of the post.

But De Bruyne spared his blushes in fantastic fashion as the Belgian midfielder's outstanding curling effort beat Trapp and found its mark.

PSG chased the two goals they needed to turn the tie around but Zlatan Ibrahimovic's effort was correctly ruled out for offside with five minutes to go.

Meanwhile, Cristiano Ronaldo was the Real Madrid hero as he overturned a first leg deficit of 2-0 against German side Wolfsburg.

Two goals in two minutes tonight from the Portuguese star had Real back level on aggregate and he added a free-kick in the second half to turn the tie on its head and send Zinedine Zidane's side through to the semi-finals.
