Bubbles O'Dwyer: "We're back in August and we're back where we want to be"
Tipperary overcame Clare by 0-28 to 3-16 on Saturday21:32 Saturday 22 July 2017, 21:32 22 Jul 2017
Tipperary's John 'Bubbles' O'Dwyer expected Clare to throw everything at his side as the the provincial rivals battled it out for a place in the All-Ireland semi-final on Saturday.
And, that's exactly played how it panned out, as a second-half fight back from the Banner saw them score six unanswered points in a row as they tried to reel Tipperary in.
In the end, Tipp ran out eventual winners by 0-28 to 3-16 and speaking to Off the Ball's Oisin Langan afterwards, O'Dwyer said: "We came down here expecting nothing less from Clare, it was going to be a fierce hard battle.
"We just came out with the win, I don't know what it was, one or two points, I don't know what it was but we're just happy to be in an All-Ireland semi-final again.
"No matter how many games you play or how many wins you get - you're always going to have things to work on. And, that's something we're going to have to try to work on, to stem the flow of a team when they get their purple patch. And, you know, I think a lot of our players stood up today.
"I think Ronan and Paudi and Brendan back there and all the backs...some serious catches there and some serious interventions so we'll get a lot of confidence from that. We're back in August and we're back where we want to be.
It was the first big match in the newly renovated Pairc Ui Chaoimh and commenting on the new pitch, he said: "It's not too bad, it was soft but it was fine. It's a new pitch but it's going to take time for it to harden up. It's a serious stadium out there so it's good to have Cork back up and running again."
