CM Punk loses on his UFC debut in under three minutes

CM Punk, the former WWE Champion, lost on his UFC debut overnight to Mickey Gall.

Punk (aka Phil Brooks) signed with the UFC in 2014, and after various injury setbacks, he fought Mickey Gall. The 24-year-old was only competing in his third professional fight.

The Cleveland venue was the site where Punk quit professional wrestling over two years ago, and marked a return to the limelight for the star.

The 37-year-old failed to gain control of the fight from the opening bell and was taken down to the mat inside ten seconds. Gall dominated the fight from there, and Punk eventually submitted with just over two minutes gone in the fight.

Despite the heavy loss, Punk vowed to return to the ring once more, calling the event; "the second-best night of my life". He added that; "This was a hell of a mountain to try and climb. I just didn't get to the summit today."

After the win, Gall said he wanted to fight Sage Northcutt. The 20-year-old has an 8-1 record and has fought four-times in the UFC.
