Carl Frampton struggled to get a pint after Santa Cruz defeat

Carl Frampton relinquished his WBA featherweight title last month during his rematch defeat to rival Leo Santa Cruz.

The fight - another tactical, strategic battle - lived up to its billing and calls for a third fight in Northern Ireland are now on the cards. Undoubtedly it will go down as one of the greatest rivalries in the history of the division.

So to achieve such a feat, you would think Frampton would receive more recognition for his achievements in the ring.

In his most recent Sunday Life column, 'The Jackal' revealed that despite organizing an event for family, friends and supporters after the fight, he struggled to even get a pint at the bar.

"I had waited 20 minutes and there was no sign of me getting a drink and when I went up to order a round the guy says, 'Have you got a wristband? Only those with a wristband can get a drink’" he writes.

"I politely explained I had organised the event!"

With regards to a prospective trilogy fight with Santa Cruz, Frampton said: "Leo Santa Cruz is a great guy, the two of us have shown each other respect in two great fights but I feel he will lose some respect if he doesn’t honour his word and fight me in Belfast this summer."

Windsor Park is tipped to be the location to hold the fight should Santa Cruz come to these shores in the summer.

Kingspan Stadium, The SSE Arena and Titanic Quarter are all alternative venues in which the bout could be held.
