Carlow boss doubles-down in Brolly spat

Carlow football manager Turlough O'Brien has doubled-down in his row with RTE pundit Joe Brolly.

O'Brien came out swinging after his side's 10 point loss to Tyrone in Round 2 of the All-Ireland qualifiers telling Off the Ball's Máire Treasa Ní Cheallaigh "A lot of people seem to think that Carlow play a terrible style of football - some of these critics, pundits - these ex-players and let's be honest about it -  Joe Brolly has had a right pop at Carlow the last few weeks but you know, there's a lot of holes in Brolly's argument and a brolly with holes isn't much use.

"He's talking about Carlow being a defensive team but look at the scores we got out of the last football league - we were one of the top scoring teams in the National Football League. We were on of the top goal scoring teams in the National Football League so I think those facts stand up against any argument about how we play the game.

"We were very, very competitive - I don't what ye people are thinking like but you know the rules of the game and we play within the rules of the game so we do and we play football to win.

"We're not here to entertain Joe Brolly or the likes of Joe Brolly. Joe Brolly was forwards coach with Antrim in 2008. They were in contention for promotion - seven points against Waterford, eight points against Tipperary to lose promotion from Division 4 under Joe Brolly's brilliant tutelage so there you go now."

O'Brien took to Twitter on Monday with the topic still clearly on his mind:
