Celtic deny McGeady bid but pave way for Stokes exit

Celtic have denied making an approach for Irish international Aiden McGeady.

The Hoops are being linked wth the Everton winger, but his wages are thought to be a major stumbling block in any potential transfer.

The Ireland player is on £60,000 a week at Goodison Park as he seeks more first team opportunities ahead of Euro 2016.

Meanwhile, Celtic assistant manager John Collins revealed that Anthony Stokes will be allowed to go out on loan for the rest of the season with the striker expected to move to Inverness where he will team-up with his former Falkirk manager John Hughes.

"There has been a relationship with those two before. They have worked well with each other in the past so it might be a good place for Anthony to go," said Collins.

"There are other teams interested as well but we won't force him to go where he doesn't want to go, it will be his choice. He has to go away, score goals and play well, that is what football is all about."
