Celtic on the verge of sixth successive Scottish Premiership title

Celtic are just one game away from securing a sixth consecutive Scottish Premiership title this afternoon.

The runaway leaders will retain the trophy if they get a win at Hearts this lunchtime, having already won the League Cup this season. Brendan Rodger's side are also in the semi-final of the Scottish Cup.

The reigning league champions took a 27-point lead into the international break and are set to wrap up the title this afternoon, an achievement Rodgers says he will be incredibly proud of.

"It'll be a huge honour for me in relation to taking the club in my first year here to the title," he said ahead of today's game.

"We come off the back of five titles before this, so when I came in my job was to win it in the best way we possibly could."

Celtic visit Edinburgh this afternoon, Rodgers says his side are not getting carried away by the task at hand.

"We can only worry about ourselves. The players are in great form and in great confidence, so we'll go in to do what we can do in every game which is to do our best and hopefully win.

"The position we're in is down to nobody but ourselves. We have to respect that and go out and do our job like we have been doing all season."

The former Liverpool boss has made some exceptional additions to the squad this year, including both Moussa Dembélé and Scott Sinclair.

"The enjoyment of seeing players develop has been the key to it all. We've had many outstanding performances through the course of all of the competitions.

"That personal satisfaction between watching the relationship between the training and going into the game to see players grow and develop, that's the really exciting part of it."
