Celtic play a 13-year-old boy in Under-20's match

If you're good enough you're old enough.

That was the mentality Celtic used on Monday night, when 13-year-old Karamoko Kader Dembele came off the bench in the final ten minutes as the club's under-20 side played Hearts in a 3-1 win.

Dembele replaced 16-year-old Jack Aitchison, who has already scored for the first team in a league match. The squad was weakened by a number of call-ups to Scotland's underage teams.

The boy, who is no relation to the Celtic striker Moussa, has impressed for Celtics schoolboy teams, since signing for the club.

According to the Celtic website, Dembele "didn’t look out of place and played his part in the closing stages".

With players like Dembele and Aitchison impressing for the club as youngsters, unsurprisingly the team came from behind to win 3-1. All three goals were scored in six second-half minutes.

Dembele returns to school on Tuesday morning, after a busier than expected Monday night. Let's hope he got his homework done.
