Celtic win 14th straight league match as Old Firm derby looms at the weekend

Celtic continued their domestic dominance in Scotland with a 2-0 win over Ross County at Celtic Park to extend their lead at the top of the SPL to 16 points with a game in hand.

Goals from Erik Sviatchenko and Stuart Armstrong before half-time saw the hosts complete an unbeaten domestic start to the defence of their title.

Speaking afterwards, Celtic manager Brendan Rodger said: "Once we get the goal, then, of course, the opponent has to come out a bit more. Second half, we killed the momentum of Ross County and really controlled the opening 25 minutes and created more chances.

"Last 10 minutes, I thought we could have managed the game better. We gave away too many corners and got a little bit excited," he added.

They head into the weekend's Glasgow derby with Rangers at Ibrox in a dominant league position, having beaten their rivals 5-1 in September.

Speaking ahead of the game, captain Scott Brown said it was "always going to be hard going to Ibrox no matter how many points you’re clear.

"There’s a lot of pressure on them. We’re a few points clear but you still want to go there and get the three points," he added.
