Celtic's Leigh Griffiths enjoying being back in the team

Celtic continued their fine form last night with a comfortable 4-1 win over Partick Thistle at Fir Park.

Striker Leigh Griffiths has endured an injury-plagued campaign so far but was handed a start last night and grabbed it with both hands.

Speaking to the club's website he said: “I’ve been itching to play for the last few weeks, ever since I’ve been injured it has been frustrating watching Moussa score but at times I have come in and tried to impose myself on the team and get that starting berth.

“Last night I got handed the jersey and I’ve done myself no harm. I don’t think it’s about scoring, it’s about my all-round play. I need to try and do what Moussa’s been doing the last few weeks. I’ve done that so we’ll see what happens on Tuesday.

“It has been frustrating from the moment I got injured. I’ve been unwell at times and niggling injuries have kept me out and it has been frustrating and hard, but I’m feeling 100 per cent fit now and I need to keep going.

“It’s a team game. If I can’t score then I’m trying to put it on a plate for someone else to score and I don’t think Stuart will have an easier finish than the first one. There was a little bit of creativity for the second one when I saw him at the edge of the box. He’s been great all season doing that and he deserved his two goals,” he added.

The Glasgow club have now won 13 of their first 14 fixtures and after Saturday's matches sit eight points clear of Rangers but have three matches in hand over their Old Firm rivals.
