Arsenal head to Munich while Real Madrid entertain Napoli15:02 Wednesday 15 February 2017, 15:02 15 Feb 2017
When Arsenal finished top of their group earlier this season, they were quietly optimistic of receiving a favourable draw in the last 16 of the competition.
As fate would have it, they were paired with German champions Bayern Munich who contrived to finish behind Atletico Madrid in their group.
This will be the fourth time the sides have met in the knock-out stages of the tournament with the German side winning on each previous occasion.
Arsenal head into the match under pressure domestically. They sit in fourth place in the premier league and have only won one of their last three games, including a home defeat to Watford. Arsene Wenger has also confirmed that David Ospina will start in goals ahead of Petr Cech which has raised some eyebrows.
The Germans are in a far more healthier place sitting top of the Bundesliga with a seven point cushion. They have only lost once in the league all season.
The other match tonight sees holders Real Madrid entertain Italian side Napoli.
Zinedane Zidane's men lead the way in La Liga by one point and have two games in hand. Real went on an incredible nine month 40 game unbeaten run which came to a stunning end in a crazy five minutes in Seville in January.
However they finished second in their group behind Borussia Dortmund.
Napoli are unbeaten in their last 18 Serie A games and occupy third spot in the table. They topped a relatively easy champions league group which included Benfica, Besiktas and Dynamo Kiev.
The last time the two sides met was in the 1987/88 European Cup when a certain Diego Maradona played for the Italians. Madrid advanced after two legs, 3-1 on aggregate.
