Chelsea are a "distance away" from last years side - Pat Nevin

Former Chelsea player Pat Nevin joined Joe to co-present last nights Off the Ball Football Show and spoke about the continuing early season turmoil at his old club.

Chelsea have only won a single point after a 2-2 draw with Swansea on the opening weekend of the season, followed by last weekend's 3-0 loss to Manchester City in the Etihad Stadium.

After the buildup to the Manchester City game was dominated by the bust up between Jose Mourinho and his medical staff of Dr. Eva Carneiro and Jon Fearn in the Swansea game, Nevin told Joe that footage released by Sky Sports may have shown why the Portuguese manager reacted the way he did. "Sky released an image and Eva was walking past Jose on the way back and she gave a bit of lip on front of everyone". Nevin added that if it was a player in that position, he would expect any manager including to Jose Mourinho to react in that way.

After the weekend's loss to Manchester City, Nevin feels that Mourinho is trying to make the team younger as quick as possible, hence the pursual of John Stones of Everton. The Scot added that the team are a shadow of the side that dominated last years Premier League.

Chelsea's future games are causing concern for Nevin as Arsenal and Everton are coming up of the champions, and he feels that once Eden Hazard and Diego Costa come into form, Chelsea should improve quickly.
