Kansas City Chiefs moved into the NFL Playoffs with a week to spare, after defeating SuperBowl 50 champions Denver Broncos on Christmas Night. The 33-10 win also ended Denver's playoff hopes.
The Chiefs rushed to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter and ended the opening period with a 21-7 lead. Quarterback Alex Smith and tight end Travis Kelce both found the endzone, but it was a 70-yard run from Tyreek Hill that gained the plaudits in the opening quarter.

Despite the heroics of Hill, it was a simple two-yard pass from Dontari Poe that made the headlines in the crucial win. At 27-10 in the fourth quarter, Poe (who is well over 300lbs) threw a touchdown pass to Demetrius Harris. Poe, whose regular job is on the defensive side of the ball has now ran and threw a touchdown this season.

Kansas City's win guarantees the team at least a wildcard spot. They could still win the AFC West next week if they beat San Diego, and Oakland lose to Denver.
In the AFC North, Pittsburgh Steelers won the division. Mike Tomlin's side had a 31-27 win over the Baltimore Ravens at home. Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger threw for three touchdowns and Le'Veon Bell ran for one, to help win the division for the second time in three years.
With one week left in the season. The AFC playoff teams are confirmed. New England and the AFC West winners are guaranteed first round byes. Pittsburgh and Houston will be at home in the Wildcard Round. That duo will play Miami and Kansas City/Oakland in lineups that will be confirmed after the final round of matches.
