Ciaran Kilkenny's All-Ireland preparation will be spent in a Donegal Gaeltacht

Dublin's epic two-point win over Kerry in Sunday's All-Ireland semi-final put Ciaran Kilkenny in an awkward position.

The 23-year-old Castleknock star failed to score in the Croke Park encounter as Dublin booked their place in their third All-Ireland Final in four years.

While most of his team mates will be back to training this week ahead of the game against Mayo, Kilkenny will be preparing for a college placement in North Donegal.

Speaking to Today FM after the game, Kilkenny admitted that his preparations for the September 18th clash, will be primarily away from the rest of the Dublin squad.

"I have to go to the Gaeltacht. I'm doing a Masters in Education, so I have to go to the Gaeltacht for two weeks. I have to work around that. I suppose that'll be a nice distraction."

"I'll be up in the lovely place of Gweedore in Donegal. I'll have good craic up there. I suppose that'll keep me occupied."

The two-time All-Ireland winner even joked that he will have to keep the head down once he turns up in Gweedore.

"I won't be wearing the Dublin gear. There's a few McGees and Kevin Cassidy, Odhran Mac Niallais and a few lads up there so they'll be slagging me."

Kilkenny will be still expected to don the number 12 jersey in three weeks time, despite the unusual preparations.
