Claudio Ranieri explains how Jurgen Klopp saved him after life in Greece

Claudio Ranieri faces off against Liverpool today with hopes of cementing his side's place on top of the league and the Italian coach has explained how Jurgen Klopp helped him to rediscover his spirit.

The Foxes currently sit atop the Premier League with a two point advantage over Arsenal, their closest competitor. It was just last November, however, that Ranieri was sacked as the manager of Greece following an embarrassing 1-0 loss to the Faroe Islands in Athens in November 2014.

Ranieri has recalled how taking a trip to the south of Spain to watch Klopp and his Borussia Dortmund team training during a winter break helped to revitalise his spirit and give him the fight we have seen in Leicester's historic start to the season.

"They were in La Manga in Spain, I went there. I had my Greece player there (Sokratis Papastathopoulos) I called him and asked if Klopp would agree.

"I watched Pep Guardiola, I watched Bayer Leverkusen last winter, I was in Germany three times.

"I have a lot of spirit for this, for this reason, it's a great experience, I want to see and I want to learn.

"The football is always the same, but if you have an open mind you take. Dortmund were in a bad position but it was unbelievable as they played so well.

'They created five or six chances but didn't score.

"For me it's not important what a manager is doing in a little period, it's about the big period."

Klopp will be hoping the Tinkerman did not pick up too many tips from his trip to Spain and that he doesn't use what he learned in La Manga against him when Leicester travel to Anfield on Stephen's Day.
