Claudio Ranieri named the LMA's Manager of the Year

Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri has capped off a historic season by being named the LMA's Manager of the Year.

The Italian manager is only the second man from outside Britain and Ireland to win the award. Arsenal's Arsene Wenger has won the title on two occasions in 2002 and 2004.

Ranieri joined Leicester City at the start of the season, after a disastrous spell with the Greek national team. He led Leicester to their first ever league title, as the team ended the season ten points clear ahead of their nearest rivals Arsenal.

It was a busy day for the 64-year-old who had to travel to London by helicopter for the award ceremony. He started the day in Leicester, where an estimated 250,000 fans were on the streets of the city, to see the team celebrate their league success with an open-top bus parade through the city centre.

There was a double success for the Italian on the night, as he was also named as the Premier League's manager of the Year.

Despite missing out on promotion from The Championship, former Irish international Chris Hughton was named as the Championship's Manager of the Year for leading Brighton and Hove Albion to a third placed finish.
