Cleveland comfortably win the opening game of the World Series

Cleveland is a city that is not used to success.

As the Cavaliers began the new season, as reigning NBA champions, the Indians opened up the World Series a few hundred metres down the street.

Having not competed in the World Series since 1997, the Indians are looking for their first win in the Fall Classic since 1948.

On Tuesday night, they opened their campaign against the Chicago Cubs. The Cubs are in their first World Series since 1948, having last won the title in 1908.

In the best-of-seven series, it was the Indians who took won the first game, with a 6-0 win at home. It was the first time in nine games of the World Series that a team failed to score a run. In Game Six of the 2014 Series, San Francisco lost 10-0 to Kansas City.

Pitchers Corey Kluber and Andrew Miller were dominant as the Cubs were rarely in a position to score. The Indians' Roberto Perez was the start on the plate, hitting two home runs on the way to a 6-0 win.

Game 2 takes place in Cleveland on Wednesday night, before the World Series heads to Chicago for Games 3 and 4 later this week.
