The Westerners scored two tries either side of half-time and went in at the break a point behind. Matt Healy and Tiernan O'Halloran both crossed the whitewash in a six-minute period in the first 20 minutes, but Lam's side still were 15-14 down at the break.

The Italian clash is followed by a home game to Ospreys at Pat Lam's side will hope to qualify for next season's Chmapions Cup at the earliest possible opportunity.
