Pat Lam's team follow up their victory over Toulouse with a bonus point performance
Connacht have made it two wins from two in the European Rugby Champions Cup with a bonus point victory over Zebre.
The province ran in eight tries to secure a 52-7 win to go top of Pool 2.
Having sensationally fought back to defeat Toulouse in their opener at the Sportsground last Saturday, the fixture against Zebre was of the must-win variety for Connacht, if they are to progress to the knockout stage for the first time in their history.
Stacey Ili got the first try of an eventual hat-trick to put Connacht in front early on and Jack Carty added another.
Craig Ronaldson was unerring with the resulting conversions as Connacht took a 14-0 half-time lead.
And they did not let up in the second period as Ili helped himself to two tries after the break, Cian Kelleher scored two of his own and Conor Carey got another one.
Plus there was a penalty try for Pat Lam's side.
Tommaso D'Apice got the consolation try for Zebre with 20 minutes to go.
Next up for Connacht is a trip to face Wasps at the Ricoh Arena on December 11th.
The English side drew 20-20 with Toulouse in their Sunday fixture which means Connacht go two points clear at the top of the pool.
