Connacht signing Marnitz Boshoff finally set to arrive in Galway this week

Connacht have confirmed that South African out-half Marnitz Boshoff will finally arrive at the province at the end of this week.

The 27-year-old's move to Galway had been delayed after his club, the Golden Lions made it as far as the semi-finals of the Currie Cup in South Africa.

However a 55-17 loss to Free State Cheetahs on October 15th means Golden Lions' Currie Cup involvement is now over.

Connacht have confirmed that Boshoff will "complete a routine medical examination before integrating into full team training".

His move to Connacht had been announced in March with head coach Pat Lam describing him as an important acquisition at the time.

"In the context of where we are and where we are planning to be, Marnitz is an important signing for our squad. A lot of time and research went into identifying the right, experienced outhalf to fit the profile we were after," Lam had said.

"Marnitz is not only a proven and reliable goal kicker with an outstanding kicking game, but his game management has seen the rise of the Lions in Super Rugby over the last three seasons as well as him leading the Golden Lions to Currie Cup success."

Meanwhile, full-back Tiernan O'Halloran has been ruled out of this weekend's Champions Cup game against Zebre with a knee injury while Quinn Roux and Eoin Griffin are recovering from concussion.
